Faculty History

Tadulako University (UNTAD) is an integral part of the Ministry of National Education which carries out higher education activities in Central Sulawesi. These activities began in the year 1966 when UNTAD was still a branch of Hasanuddin University (NAILS). In line with the demands of the development of science and technology, UNTAD continues to develop itself and up to 2010 have 7 Faculty (27 Department and 46 Study program), Postgraduate Program and Diploma Study Program. The seven faculties are Teacher Training and Education, Social science and political science, Economy, Law, Agriculture, Technical, Mathematics and natural science, Forestry.

The faculties mentioned above program various compulsory courses that must be served by academic staff who have scientific backgrounds in mathematics and basic science. (MIPA).

Overview of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tadulako University

In an effort to improve the quality of services in the implementation of Mathematics and Natural Sciences academic activities, since the school year 1992/1993, UNTAD has selected outstanding Mathematics and Natural Sciences students to attend sate strata education (S1) MIPA at ITB, UGM, IPB and UNHAS funded by AIDAB, CIDA, ADB, BS-LPTK and PGSM. Through the CTAB project, since 1996, UNTAD has received new academic personnel who have completed their Masters studies at ITB and UGM. The existing MIPA academic staff is also always able to improve their abilities, among others by pursuing strata two education (S2) both domestically and abroad. Starting year 1997 Academic staff who are studying at home and abroad have successfully completed their studies.

Based on the above conditions, in the Strategic Plan and Results of the Annual Work Meeting 1999/2000 UNTAD has launched the MIPA Faculty. The plan was strengthened through seminars and workshops in August 1999 in the framework of the XVIII UNTAD Dies Natalis, who recommended the establishment of the MIPA Faculty. In the end, in the UNTAD Senate meeting dated 4 April 2002 It was decided that the establishment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was indispensable in an effort to empower UNTAD to advance, develop and compete with other universities both nationally and internationally.

As an embryo of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in 2001 Department / Study Program of Physics has been established according to the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No.005/Dikti / Kep. / 2001, year 2003 opened the Mathematics Study Program through SK. Director General Dikti No. 700/D / T / 2003 and year 2004 the Chemistry Study Program was opened according to the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 685/D / T / 2004 as well as the Biological Studies Program which received the TPSDP project was opened in the Academic year 2006 according to the agreement with the TPSDP project and has been approved by the Decree of the Director General of DIKTI No.3743 / D / T / 2006.

In the year 2005 The status of the Mathematics Study Program was upgraded to the Department of Mathematics in accordance with the SK. Dirjen Dikti No.41 / DIKTI / Kep / 2005 dated 23 August 2005. In the year 2008 opened two study programs, namely the Medical Education Study Program in accordance with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 2124/D / T / 2008 and the Public Health Study Program according to the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education 4686 / D / T / 2008. Meanwhile, the Pharmacy Study Program was opened in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of National Education No. 71/D / O / 2010. Now FMIPA UNTAD has 7 Study Program, namely Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Pharmacy.
