Empower Central Sulawesi Disaster Survivors, IRW visited the FMIPA Biological Mushroom Farm

[fmipa news] Saturday, 8 August 2019. Tadulako Mushroom Farm Department of Biology, FMIPA received a visit from the team Islamic Relief Worldwide Regional Sulawesi Tengah. Group led by Line Manager Islamic Relief Worldwide Regional Sulawesi Tengah, Novanto Agus was carried out in order to initiate a collaboration between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNTAD and Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) in empowering the people of Central Sulawesi, especially women who have survived the Disaster in Central Sulawesi in the cultivation of oyster mushrooms. The IRW visit was received directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Darmawati Darwis, Ph.D and accompanied by the Head of the Biology Department, Dr. Annawaty and Dr. Umrah as manager of the Tadulako Mushroom Farm.

In the brief meeting, Novanto explained that the activities oyster mushroom cultivation that will be developed by IRW in Central Sulawesi, the original plan was to bring in oyster mushroom seeds from Java, however with the availability of oyster mushroom seeds in Garden Tadulako mushrooms (KJT) then the cooperation in supplying the seeds will then be done with the KJT.

Following up the formation of this collaboration, IRW asked Tadulako University's willingness to attend the meeting which is planned to be held in the near future to discuss more about Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides.

Besides provide oyster mushroom seeds, Tadulako Mushroom Farm which is a unit of Laboratory of Microbiology, Department of Biology, FMIPA, serve also activities training for students and the general public who want to learn more deeply about the ins and outs of oyster mushroom cultivation. Further Dr. Umrah as The manager explained that the mushroom garden also serves orders for oyster mushrooms white ready to harvest (Annawaty& Honorary)
